Dr. Damien Aherne, Principal

Dr. Damien Aherne is a dedicated and accomplished educator with over twenty years of experience in public education. He has served in various roles, including teacher, administrator, music director, adjunct professor, and principal. Dr. Aherne holds advanced degrees in Educational Administration, Leadership, and Music, with endorsements as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and Chief School Business Official (CSBO) in Illinois. Dr. Aherne is also committed to professional development and giving back to the educational community. He serves as the State Director for the South Cook Region of the Illinois Principals Association. He believes every child has the right to learn in a safe and caring environment that nurtures their individual talents and needs.

Dr. Aherne takes pride in working collaboratively with the Fierke staff and District administration to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn and grow. He has a deep passion for learning that he enjoys sharing with staff and students. 

He lives in Frankfort with his wife Marisa, daughters Gracelyn and Niamh, and son Evan. He enjoys exercise, being outside, working with people, reading great books, performing music, watching movies, and being with his family.
